Pneumatic cushions save lives—fire services use them to rescue people trapped in vehicles. On that principle Best Handling Technology developed an end effector that picks cylindrical loads easily for transport.

Best Handling Technology from Heuchelheim serves industrial and logistics sectors; systems adapt to task and space.
A components manufacturer in Halle (Saale) needed a custom solution for fibre reels. Staff had manually moved reels from pallet to infeed platform. To make the process more ergonomic and efficient, they ordered a handling system: pneumatic rope balancer with bellows gripper on a mobile column articulated jib as support. The pneumatic bellows gripper picks wound fibre reels: a pneumatic cushion is inserted and inflated, holding the reel securely; special coating prevents glass fibre slip.
Bellows gripper compensates inner diameter differences
A major advantage is compensation for inner diameter differences up to about 50 mm. After inflation the pneumatic rope balancer with two-load control switches automatically to full float; the operator guides the reel to placement, then releases the cushion at the push of a button—25 kg reel free. The balancer sits on a mobile floor plate for use in multiple locations.
The example shows how Best Handling Technology eases transfers and speeds the process.
Pneumatic balancer, crane systems, and end effectors for every industry
Whether high or low factory halls, hazardous areas, or hygienic pharma and food environments, Best Handling Technology supplies crane systems adapted to conditions and tasks. Pneumatic or electric handling—rope or chain hoists with many end effectors—pick and move diverse packages, products, and materials across industrial settings. Simple, fast, back-friendly operation supports operator health and motivation.
