Slewing jib cranes are an economical solution for many handling tasks. Whether in goods in or out, manufacturing, assembly, or inspection—they enable ergonomic transport of goods.
They are often wrongly seen as a compromise compared to gantries. In fact they are especially suited—unlike portal cranes—to tasks at a spatially limited workstation.
The flexibility of a slewing jib crane is illustrated by the following application. A column-mounted slewing jib is to be used in several places to handle sacks. The workstations are not only in different rooms but on different floors.
The ezzLINKmobil slewing jib crane can be combined with lifting equipment
It is therefore built on a mobile floor plate, ezzLINKmobil, which can be moved with a pallet truck or forklift. The crane is fully equipped with a handling system and power supply (CEE plug 400 V 16 A), ready to use wherever needed. The column is height-adjustable for passing through doors and under pipe runs and cable trays. It also has a split jib for transport in a goods lift. The ezzLINKmobil mobile support system demonstrates the slewing jib principle on a floor pallet.
Key facts—typical slewing jib crane data:
| Parameter | Value |
|---|---|
| Capacity | up to 1000 kg |
| Jib length | 8 m |
| Slewing range | 270° (special designs up to 360°) |
| Slewing | manual |
As standard wall- or column-mounted slewing jibs, with their own column or on an existing building column, they are the optimum solution for defined workstations and integrate flexibly. With up to 8 m reach from the column—up to 16 m working area—large zones can be covered.
Accidents in tight spaces are avoided
In cramped environments or with forklift traffic, columns are often undesirable. Slewing jibs can therefore be ceiling-mounted.

Slewing jib movement always has two components: slewing the jib requires more operating force than moving the trolley along the jib. Aluminium jibs are preferable to ease operation, especially slewing. The accelerated mass when slewing is roughly 50% lower than with steel jibs.
A complete system with slewing jib and lifting aid, flexibly adapted to industrial environments
Depending on what must be moved, different hoists are used: chain hoists, rope hoists, rope balancers, or vacuum lifters. Sacks, cartons, crates, buckets, and much more can be moved. The slewing jib’s flexibility makes it an efficient, ergonomic helper. Best Handling Technology supplies complete systems with lifting aid and slewing jib crane.
